URBAN PLANNING PROGRAM ASSOCIATE The Energy Foundation China Sustainable Energy Program Job Opening - Beijing

The Energy Foundation is a private foundation based in the San Francisco Bay Area.We have a Beijing representative office, and we manage The China Sustainable Energy Program (www.efchina.org), whose mission is to encourage China's sustainable development through energy efficiency and renewable energy policy development. The Energy Foundation is launching a new "China Sustainable Cities Initiative" (CSCI), supported by the Hewlett Foundation. We are interested in assisting China's cities to develop (1) sustainable urban designs, (2) green buildings, and (3) sustainable transportation systems. 

We seek one responsible, energetic, and highly professional individual with a strong interest in a clean environment for the position of Program Associate. The position will support the work of our Urban Planning Program Officer in Beijing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior staff with meeting arrangements, compile meeting reports, liaison with senior government officials, their staff, and policy experts.
  • Support senior staff with managing grants projects, initiate creative ideas,
    supervise the progress of projects.
  • Work with senior staff to compile background reports, reference materials and policy research.
  • Coordinate detailed arrangements for meetings and international workshops, including invitation letters, travel arrangements, assembly of meeting materials.
  • Manage filing systems (both paper and electronic files).
  • Handle correspondence, and project management duties in partnership with other staff.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan and manage meetings, reports, contractors, etc.
  • Possess a college or university degree, preferably in urban planning.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to translate Chinese to English and vice versa.
  • Solid project management skills and expertise.
  • Solid computer experience (Filemaker Pro, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Work well under pressure, independently and as a team member, and be a creative problem-solver.
