摘要： 街道设计是各个国家积极探讨的设计领域，面对发展中国家共有的城市交通问题，梳理《印 度街道设计手册》对中国具有借鉴意义。从印度街道现状问题出发，首先回顾印度街道设计的发展 历程。围绕《印度街道设计手册》(以下简称《手册》)，介绍印度街道设计的目标与原则，并对共 享街道、快速公交系统、街道摊贩等重点议题进行探讨。同时，对《手册》中街道设计元素、街道 设计模板、交叉口设计模板及操作流程进行详细解读。最后，从设计理念、设计重点、设计模板、 设计流程、操作方法等方面提出《手册》对中国街道设计的启示，并对如何借鉴《手册》以适应并 补充中国的街道设计进行总结。

Lessons Learned from India Urban Street Design Manual

Abstract： Street design is a very interesting topic all over the world. Since developing countries have similar urban traffic problems, it is helpful for China to learn from Better Streets, Better Cities: A Guide to Street Design in Urban India. Based on the existing problems in Indian streets, this paper first reviews the development of street design in India. Focusing on the street design manual, the paper discusses the objectives and principles of India street design, along with several key issues such as shared zones, Bus Rapid Transit systems, street vending, and etc. The paper also elaborates the street design elements, design templates, intersection templates, and operational process of the manual. Finally, the paper discusses how to use the lessons learned from the India manual to improve the street design in China in several aspects: design philosophy, priority, templates, procedure and operational process.
