Abstract: Travel fatigue and the usability of travel time for secondary behavior has been regarded as important and inevitable in both research and measures on the issue of transit service quality improvement, since higher expectations of quality from the passengers have been placed on their daily commuting. In this research, an SP survey performed on the Subscription Bus Service system in Beijing, aiming at investigating passengers’ willingness-to-pay for high-quality transit service, is introduced, and improvement of service quality by features, such as energy expenditure saving, unusable commuting time saving, is analyzed. Results showed that passengers’choice behavior of shifting from their original commuting modes to Subscription Bus Service for daily commuting is significantly correlated with the improvement of the two features mentioned above, and passengers would pay extra fees for those improvements. Furthermore, if unreserved service could be incorporated in the current operation, a lot more passengers would benefit from such a high-quality urban transit service initiative.
