摘要： 通过回顾、总结现行城市交通的规划、设计、管理、控制各环节主要的学术思想与技术措 施，综合相应的政治、法律、经济、城市地理、人口等社会人文学科的研究思维，提出城市交通学 的概念。城市交通学是采用多学科思维、系统论方法研究城市交通的学科。其目标是服务于人的需 求，组织城市可持续地高效、安全、低耗(低能耗、低污染)运行。强调研究城市交通既要注重工程 技术，又要注重与政治、法律、经济、社会等学科的相关关系。重点阐述城市交通学的研究对象， 即城市交通网络的构建和运行。

Discussion on Urban Transportation Science

Abstract： By reviewing and summarizing major academic thinking and technical procedures in current urban transportation planning, design, management and control, this paper outlines the concept of urban transportation science that is also closely connected to the politics, law, economics, urban geography, population, and other humanity disciplines. Urban transportation science is an interdiscipline subject that studies urban transportation from a system point of view. Its purpose is to serve human needs by making cities operate in a highly efficient, safe, and low consumption (low energy consumption and low pollution) way. The paper emphasizes that studies on urban transportation should not only pay attention to engineering technology, but also focus on the interconnections with politics, law, social- economics, and other disciplines. The paper elaborates on the key elements of urban transportation science, i.e., urban transportation network's development and operation.
