摘要：快速成长的经济，不断呈现的新的产业格局，人口的大量流动和重新分布，都对中国的城市建设和管理提出了新的要求和挑战，并提供了新的机遇。从可持续发展的角度出发，让交通成为支持经济发展、产业进步和人民生活的有力支柱，是制定、评估、执行交通发展战略和政策的基本目的。城市交通规划程序，则是实现交通发展战略政策的基本过程。为保证这一过程的科学化和民主化，精准有效的交通需求模型必不可少。最近的相关研究总结了20多年来中国交通需求模型工作在各地的发展历程、架构、特点、应用和存在的问题；同时，有着更长期大城市交通规划和建模历史的美国也在做类似的总结工作。通过对中美两国交通需求模型的分析和评估，并结合已有研究和实际工作经验，对交通模型及其相关工作，在交通规划政策层面、建模规划层面、模型系统及应用层面分别提出建议和展望。

Trends and Prospects of Travel Demand Modeling Practices in China and the U.S.

Abstract: Rapid economic growth, industrial development and population change in recent years leads to new requirements, challenges and opportunities to urban development and city management in China.Transportation policy, strategy making and implementation is essential in supporting the prospective growth in a sustainable manner. Urban transportation planning is the process that materializes transportation development policies. Travel demand modeling is critical in a scientific and democratic transportation planning process. On the basis of recent research, a synthesis of history, structures, characteristics and implementation of travel demand modeling practices in both China and U.S.A., and authors own experiences, this paper provides a collection of recommendations on the policy, planning, and implementation levels of travel demand modeling efforts.
