The CAUPD Urban Transportation Institute (abbreviated as “CAUPD UTI”) initially established in 1982, which is a secondary institution of the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design. As a national transportation consulting service provider, UTI focuses on an integration of policies, standards, scientific research, and planning & design. UTI is the operation body for Urban Transport Engineering Technology Center and Subway & Light Rail Research Center under the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD). UTI takes charge of national policy research and scientific research programs in the urban transportation field. Specifically, UTI establishes national level and industrial level standards & codes, and consults urban transportation planning & design program entrusted by the government at each level and relevant organizations. Meanwhile UTI also organizes academic exchanges between China and other countries. UTI boasts the Level-A qualifications concerning urban planning formulation, engineering design & consulting, and other qualifications related to engineering surveying, consulting, design, and inspection in overseas municipal projects.
CAUPD UTI has set up the secretariat for the National Standardization Technical Committee on Urban Rail Transit of China, MOHURD Urban Rail Transit Standardization Technical Committee, Urban Transport Planning Academic Committee of Urban Planning Society of China, and Engineering Construction Professional Committee of China Urban Rail Transit Association. It also serves as the sponsor for the Core Chinese Journal and China’s Core Scientific & Technical Journal Urban Transport of China, and the public industry portal website -- Urban Transport. It is committed to pushing for technological advance in urban transportation and industrial innovation.
CAUPD UTI is equipped with a range of renowned experts and excellent technical teams in the industry. Among the current 116 specialized technical personnel, 75% hold a master’s degree or above, and 65% boast an intermediate professional title or above. The number of professorate senior engineers, senior engineers, and engineers and planners is 13, 27, and 35, respectively.
