摘要：在总结中国铁路发展所面 临历史机遇的基础上，指出铁路的 发展目标和战略规划。针对客运 专线和铁路客站两方面剖析中国 铁路规划与实践：前者探讨了以 “四纵四横”为骨架的客运专线网 络、主要城市群快速城际客运系 统；后者提出铁路客站建设应重视 功能、系统、先进、文化、经济5 个 方面的要求。介绍了北京市铁路 枢纽规划采用的多客站模式，以北 京南站为例，从功能需求、建筑特 色、人性化服务、节能环保方面阐 述其规划建设特点。最后，指出铁 路客运专线和客站对经济社会和 人们生活方式产生的深远影响。

Railway Passenger Transportation Development in China

Abstract：By summarizing the historical opportunities facing Chinese railway development, this paper outlines the development objectives and strategic planning for the railway system in China in two areas: special passenger-transport corridors and terminals. The former discussion focuses on the so called grid railway network framed by the four longitudinal and four lateral corridors, and on the major intercity express passenger transport services. The latter discussion focuses on the five requirements for the railway stations in functionality, system integration, advancement, cultural presentation, and economic development. Taking the new Beijing South Railway Station as an example, the paper introduces the characteristics of contemporary intermodal railway terminals, which consider not only transportation requirements, but also the architecture that reflects the culture, comfort, as well as energy-saving and environmental protection. Finally, the paper identifies the long-term impact of the railway services on society.
